The ratio of students to teachers in Gardner Public Schools District fell by 0.8% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 2,251 students being taught by 183.4 teachers in Gardner Public Schools District, which covers schools within Worcester County and has a main office in Gardner. That's an average of 12.3 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Gardner Public Schools District had 2,211 students and 177.6 teachers on staff.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.

Massachusetts has roughly one teacher for every 13 students, which is better than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.
