GCC is launching its 60th anniversary celebrations with GCC Day, an all-community celebration on campus on Thursday, June 2, from 6-8:30 p.m. The event is open to everyone in the community and will feature local food trucks, Hitchcock Brewing, music from WHAI Bear Country 95.3 FM, and children’s activities from Franklin County’s YMCA and Resilience Community Arts. GCC’s 60th anniversary celebrations will culminate with an alumni mixer on Sept. 23 and a celebration and reunion on Sept. 24.

“We’re very excited to welcome everyone in the community to help us kick-off our 60th anniversary celebrations, and we can’t wait to celebrate 60 more,” Dan Desrochers, Director of Communications and Marketing for GCC, said.

GCC is also celebrating its 60th anniversary with the GCC Foundation’s spring fundraising campaign, “One Community, Many Futures.” Funds raised will support GCC scholarships and programs that help keep GCC innovative and affordable. GCC’s campaign co-chairs this spring are Tara Brewster, Vice President of Business Development at Greenfield Savings Bank and longtime GCC volunteer, and retired social worker Mary Siano. The campaign ends June 30.

“For six decades GCC has transformed the lives of thousands of students. With the help of our dedicated community, we’ll be able to help future generations of GCC students and continue our institution’s legacy of providing an accessible high quality education,” GCC Foundation’s Executive Director Alexis Page said.

“GCC Day highlights the important and deep ties between GCC and the surrounding communities. We look forward to welcoming the community and our alumni to campus as we celebrate the long-term strength of our college and its 60-year contribution to Franklin and Hampshire counties,” said interim President Richard Hopper.

The first-ever GCC Day will include entertainment and options for the whole family. Local food truck options available for purchase will include burgers, macaroni and cheese, Thai food, vegetarian food options and ice cream.

Hitchcock Brewing will be on hand providing beers and hard seltzers for purchase for those 21 years old and over. Water and soft drinks will also be available.

Entertainment includes a live radio broadcast and music from WHAI Bear Country, 95.3 FM, as well as games and activities for children from Franklin County’s YMCA. Any Class of 2022 students from the region are also invited to bring their graduation caps and decorate them at the Resilient Community Arts booth.
